One Review for Pages App

  1. Nalini Malhotra says:

    What you like about it?
The ease of inserting objects into a document and how you can manipulate these objects in various ways. Furthermore, Pages intuitively knows how to wrap text around your object. Additionally, I like the way documents are organised and I think this feature will be beneficial to our students at AAMC who often have problems keeping their files organised.

What you don’t like about it?
When inserting a picture, MS Word provides a database of suitable pictures for the item you are looking to represent. Unfortunately, Pages does not. Instead it relies on you having previously downloaded and saved the images you require prior to typing up the document. It doesn't seem possible to be able to embed a link that takes students to another App to practise a different skill, but related to the topic in hand - this would be a nice feature!

How would you use this app with your students?
Overall, Pages is a good app, but I wouldn't expect any students to write up a thesis on an iPad. However, students could utilise Pages in a similar way to their use of MS Word, but as Pages is more intuitive with less drop down menus; students should find it easier to use.

Pages is a great competitor to MS Word. There are features I like in both, but for a word processing app, I think this is the best choice and should be deemed standard on all iPads issued to students.
